Allan van Gestel '53

Allan van Gestel wrote of this fund: “In 1953 I became the first person in my family to go to college. Colby changed my life in ways that have been with me ever since. My career as a Massachusetts trial lawyer, and now as a Massachusetts Superior Court judge, would never have happened without the educational start that I received at Colby. I suspect that my son, in the Class of 1984, and my daughter, in the Class of 2000, would say the same, but perhaps for different reasons. Now, as a Trustee of the College, I can appreciate even more what those who contribute do for those who follow. I give back to show my appreciation. Those helped by my gifts will do the same in the future.”
